Antibalas are a Brooklyn-based Afrobeat collective founded by Martín Perna in the late 1990s. With a deep discography that has found homes on renowned labels such as Ninja Tune, Ropeadope, and Daptone Records, Antibalas have consistently evolved and tweaked their sound over the years, with their eighth and most recent album, Hourglass, finding the crew returning to their instrumental roots in triumphant fashion.
For their exclusive guest DJ mix for Midnight in a Perfect World to kick off the 2026 series, Antibalas have delivered a soulful and feel-good collection of classic underground house and disco cuts designed to get your body moving. Martin from Antibalas shares insight into the vision behind the mix: "Sometimes, days, even weeks go by when I don’t move my body, like really I need to. I always feel better after I dance. Maybe you do, too."
